About Me

Experience Summary

I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

Teaching Style

I always liked playing up my quirky personality. My favorite teachers and professors were the goofy ones, the ones who can relate to the students' fun side. These teachers also challenged me the most, and I ended up getting so much more out of the course. I figure that, if a student likes the teacher, he or she will pay more attention and have a deeper respect for the teacher. The teacher then can use this trust to push the student a little more, intellectually. I find that is what works best for me.

My Hobbies

Acting, drumming, guitar-playing, singing, writing comedy, writing, songwriting, vegan bodybuilding, researching health/nutrition, doing puzzles, watching movies

Calculus I Proficiency: Experienced
I struggled through the first few weeks of calculus. It was one of the most difficult courses I took in college. I had to revamp my entire method of studying. I went to group tutoring and did more homework problems then was assigned, and I ended up doing rather well. I understand the daunting nature of the complex problems that calculus presents.
Calculus II Proficiency: Experienced
Where Calculus I was a struggle, Calculus II was surprisingly easy to me. I thought it was going to destroy me. The opposite was true. Derivatives and integrals came very easily to me. Differential equations were very tough, yet still manageable. I ended up getting a 4.0 in the class.
