Experience Summary
My tutoring experiences have taken on many shapes and sizes. I've tutored on subjects ranging business resume writing, college application essays, editing the written content of a PowerPoint presentation and much more. My initial foray into the tutoring sphere, so to speak began when I was brought on as a High School volunteer to lead residents of a retirement home toward a better future in computer literacy. It was there that I worked hand-to-hand with devoted residents on a weekly basis to sharpen their skills on how to navigate the web, begin using different applications, so as to produce written documents, email friends, family and/or previous work acquaintances and begin to discover the utility that the modern-day computer has.
Moving off of that, in my years as a student matriculating toward a Bachelor's degree, I tutored various family members. Namely, I was responsible for editing college application essays side-by-side with relatives. As I got deeper into my education, I also developed a sense of how to build out a work resume. It was a duty of mine to pass along the responsibility of constructing a resume that was unique to the person's interests, experience and personal presentation preferences and this went on briefly between college classmates and more substantively, among family relatives.
Language barriers have always been things I wish to conquer whenever I am thrust into a foreign environment. It is for this reason that I took it upon myself to develop my skill set in languages in an early age. Through my formative high school years, I eventually made my mark to be accepted into Advanced Spanish and once I reached my college years, the Arabic language become something I wanted to sharpen. As a college student, I went to tutoring centers in and around campus to learn the native tongue and to speak it as a native would. I credit those experiences for my sustained ability to speak the language and carry conversation, as though I were a born-and-raised individual of the country. In regards to Spanish, my strengths in the present-day are conversing in the language, and reading/writing Spanish on an elementary level. As one would have it, my time at UMAss also deeply entrenched me in the art of writing for business purposes and to craft artful writing, designed to study sociology and subjects of that nature. I wrote and collaborated on various written works. My proudest among them is a legal opinion paper I lead in writing for my respective group. The paper paved the way for me to be a part of a mock trial in a classroom setting, where I argued the basis of my decision as one of the arbitrators on the arbitration panel, in a matter that concerned a sports gambling case.
Once I graduated college, I continued to challenge my self in different arenas of sport business and the culmination of my search to understand the sport sales industry resulted in my placement as a Sport Business Solutions sales combine graduate. This experience helped shape the confidence that I learned to carry myself with and built up the ever-important skill of presenting a concept and not being apprehensive about it.
