I understand that all children learn differently and I am able to adapt my teaching style to fit the child. I am both patient and positive and I like to give the student confidence. My goal is to not only help the child learn, but to also give them a sense of confidence. It is important that each student believe in his or herself as well as their capabilities.
I have been working with children for several years. I started by teaching dance at a local dance studio while I was in high school. I'm a journalist by trade. My love of writing began at an early age. A bachelor's degree in Theater immersed me in the works of Wiliam Shakespeare and from there I became fascinated with history and living history at that. I then obtained a Master's degree in Journalism to expand my skill set in both the English and Spanish languages. I have extensive experience working with bilingual students of all ages in the subjects of English-grammar,composition, literature. Spanish-grammar, conversational. History- World, Latin, American.
My teaching style is based on the premise that students want to learn and succeed. At times they are blocked in that endeavor by the level of difficulty, the complexities of a lesson or personal obstacles. It's my job as a tutor to find out what that hindrance is and help the student overcome it. I vary my teaching style based on the needs of the student.
