Learning requires practice, so I emphasize practice to mastery, following Kumon. In tutoring, it is usually the case that the students can learn most of the subject without a tutor, but that each student who has difficulty has a difficulty not shared by most other students, hence not covered in class or homework. For tutoring, I learn what the students can already do well, what they can do with difficulty, and what they can't do yet, and I learn what is limiting their next progress. That is where I focus our efforts. Most of what you can learn in mathematics you can teach yourself by following the teacher's guidance and reading the textbook. A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at a small Jesuit Liberal Arts college, earning a Bachelors of Arts and Science in English and Biochemistry, I have come to fully understand the way in which each individual can and does influence the education of others. For more than five years, I volunteered as a religious education teacher for my church. I, though responsible for more than three hundred students on some occasions, discovered my passion for teaching. I developed creative ways to keep teenagers engaged and excited about the material. I took this enthusiasm and utilized it when I began to tutor high school and college students in algebra, calculus, chemistry, biology, and English.
