I graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. While pursuing my degree, I took a position as a tutor helping my fellow students with accounting and math. After my first year as a tutor, I increased my responsibilities by assisting other tutors with their techniques and skills in addition to guiding my own tutoring sessions. After graduation, I have worked with financial accounting, fund accounting, and the banking industry. My style of teaching is to first get the student to understand the basics that are needed as a foundation. For example, my friend was having trouble completing accounting homework and I soon realized that it was because he had not memorized the basic equations; i.e., "assets - liabilities = owner's equity," and "beginning inventory + purchases - ending inventory = cost of goods sold."
