My comments on tutoring Marine Biology : To work in the field of marine biology was my goal when in college. I traveled to Paris and enrolled at the Sorbonne University in order to prepare myself and had the intention of applying to work with Yves Jacques Cousteau. However, my studies were curtailed due to the Sorbonne's staff and students going on strike for over 4 months. I have qualified twice in SCUBA.

In my teaching, I make every effort to engage the attention of my students. While covering the subject at hand, I bring into my lessons references to a spectrum of other subjects when relevant such as historical context, cultural elements, literary allusions, modern and historical implications and facts and trivia relating to the subject which I believe will not only be of interest to the student but will also provide a more rounded appreciation of the benefits of a wide ranging education.
For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. A Little Bit About Me...

With a degree in Special Education and a Masters in Education I have learned about how children learn best. I have a Florida Teacher's License for teaching ESE (Exceptional Students Education), Spanish, Elementary Education, and other subjects. I taught in the Ocala public school system. I have terrific math skills and have taught all core courses to ESE students. I have helped older students prepare for their GED exam as well. Currently I teach Spanish online.
I believe with the right supports all children can learn. I have tutored students with special needs. My goal is to help the child build on their strengths and believe they can improve on their weaknesses. I honestly did not start out to be a teacher. Teaching was a profession that my family was involved in but I never saw it as something I would be good at. I became a teacher at first out of economic necessity and then realized I was actually very good at it. I was hired the day before classes started and stayed at the school for 24 years. I taught science, mathematics and social studies. For 5 years I was involved with an innovative ‘Student at Risk’ program and was even a media specialist for one year. This past year I has hired by the Census Bureau to test applicants for enumerator jobs.
