I taught high school English for three years. My students ranged from far below basic to advanced. My students consistently showed improvement in their standardized test scores and over 95% of my students passed the course. Also, Over 95% of my sophomore passed the CAHSEE. In addition to my high school experience, I have been tutoring adult learners for the past three years, becoming the program manager two years ago. In this roll, I administer assessments from which individual learning plans are developed for each student. I also recruit and train volunteer tutors to work with our students.

I have been a substitute teacher for about 10 years specializing in math & physics. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering plus 20+ years of maintenance/engineering experience. I incorporate practical examples in teaching to give students in depth knowledge in a practical sense. I like teaching. I like teaching individuals. I enjoy the challenge of adapting my style and my information to the unique set of skills and experiences that each individual brings along with them. No two people are alike. So I try not to teach each student as if she is just like the last guy. What is called the "Affective Filter" is what I deal with most: that is the part of each student that is unwilling to try. Many people are uncomfortable with anything having to do with Math, for instance. So, I try to make the session as comfortable as possible.
