I am an Elementary Education major at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I have many hours of field experience that I have completed for my education courses. I have helped out with all age groups during my field experience. My father is a teacher and my mother runs a daycare in our home, so I have spent much time teaching children various subjects, along with helping children with their homework. I believe it is so important to be a stepping stone for a child. You should be there for them when they start to stumble, but you shouldn't do everything for them.

I like to provide a variety of activities for my tutoring experiences. In my past tutoring experiences for language arts I did everything from flash cards of sight words, to word games, and short stories, to poetry. I also incorporated a lot of nonfiction text within the students interests range because LPS seems to be pushing more and more for students to have more advanced nonfiction skills in order to be successful on the NESA tests given in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. If I were tutoring a subject other then language arts I would use the same approach of incorporating a variety of activities to keep it new and exciting for the student I tutor. I am an old school educator; my students learn the whys behind the hows. I absolutely love knowledge and plan to continue my education for as long as I can. I am currently working on a PhD in Fiction Writing at UNL, but I nearly have a BA in History, and would like to turn that into a Masters as soon as I can.
