Hi, My name is Rob. I graduated from SUNY Oswego summa cum laude with a BS in applied mathematics and a minor in statistics. The plan is to start a Master's Degree in applied statistics at Syracuse University in the fall of 2013. I was trained as a math tutor in 2010 and have since tutored privately, at Cayuga Community College, and at SUNY Oswego. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for an intro statistics course. Currently, I am a systems engineering graduate student at Penn State University. I have earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from SUNY Oswego with minors in applied statistics and philosophy. My last position was as an academic mentor and tutor for AmeriCorps. I have one year of tutoring experience at Hannibal High School in Hannibal, New York. I tutored students in subjects including mathematics, science and history.
I try to relate to the children as best as I can and make the learning fun for them whenever possible. I am easy going, polite and helpful. You can preach all you want to children, but if you don't teach, there will be no learning. I believe that children will learn from someone they trust to talk to and from someone who they trust to give them the correct answers to their questions. I enjoy being that person. I like being the person who will sit next to them, talk to them, and help them out. I do not want to be the person across from them speaking without any word from my students.
