My usual style is to first let you work through a problem as best as you can. This helps identify problem areas which we can work on together. After going through examples aimed specifically at increasing ability in those issues, we can try a similar problem. I find it to be very helpful having someone who can identify where the problem is, and can go through a simpler example which highlights the area needing work. I believe that a subject should be presented in a way that is fun for the pupil. I provide a very hands on approach to learning. If the lesson is engaging than I will argue firmly that a lesson can be extracted from the experience. Certain characteristics are important in the tutor to student relationship. While working on my associates degree I tutored pre-calculus and statistics. I also worked briefly with catholic charities tutoring all subjects for high school students in need. I then completed my bachelors degree while tutoring part time at SUNY Oswego and independently with a high school student in Math and AP physics. I am currently working with that same H.S. student and now I am also working with a third grade student as well (also in math).
I enjoy sharing knowledge with anyone who can benefit from my experience. I love mathematics, statistics and physics and I attempt to pass that enthusiasm to my students.
