I believe in a teaching style that reflects a student's learning style. Whether they learn best by hearing, seeing, or doing it is important to cater to the student. My teaching style works around this philosphy and tends to be a combination of all 3 styles.
Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I also have 3 years of experience helping children by teaching swimming lessons. Assisting my 15-year-old sister with her school work is also a regular activity.

As a graduate of Saint Olaf College, I have pushed myself to achieve academic excellence on a personal level. I have earned two degrees, BA in History and BA in Classics. Through my experiences in both of these disciplines, I have attained a high level of proficiency in grammar and spelling. For the past six years I have taught for three high school drumlines, interacting with students and parents in order to provide the best possible learning and performing experience. I hold the personal belief that, “All children are special and learn differently. Each possesses the right and the ability to learn. It is my responsibility to ensure that all children receive the knowledge and tools necessary to reach their full potential.” I think learning needs to be presented in different ways for children to learn because I do not think there is one “right” way to learn. Since not all people learn the same, I try to make sure that I can think of fun, creative, and unique methods for presenting materials. A Little Bit About Me...

While working on my Bachelors, I volunteered in eight schools working one on one with students, small groups, and classroom settings for language arts. I also student taught junior high language arts. I received numerous teacher of the week recognition when I taught after school art classes. Since graduation, I have been a substitute for all grade levels and subject matter. I received certification as a line therapist for children with autism, in which I advanced the communication skills. My community college gave me the opportunity to work in between classes at the on-site child care. I also have a daughter that graduated kindergarten at age 5, that I work with on a daily basis to keep her caught up on milestones.
