Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I also have 3 years of experience helping children by teaching swimming lessons. Assisting my 15-year-old sister with her school work is also a regular activity. I believe in a teaching style that reflects a student's learning style. Whether they learn best by hearing, seeing, or doing it is important to cater to the student. I graduated from the University of Redlands, in Redlands, CA, with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Communicative Disorders. I have teaching credentials for both Minnesota and California as an elementary educator. During my college years, I was employed as a tutor where I worked with grades K-12 in all subject matters. I have also been a reading and mathematics tutor for a non-profit tutoring center and was employed with the Redlands Unified School District as an American Reads/Phonetics tutor. While working on my Bachelors, I volunteered in eight schools working one on one with students, small groups, and classroom settings for language arts. I also student taught junior high language arts. I received numerous teacher of the week recognition when I taught after school art classes. Since graduation, I have been a substitute for all grade levels and subject matter. I received certification as a line therapist for children with autism, in which I advanced the communication skills. My community college gave me the opportunity to work in between classes at the on-site child care.
