I have a B.S in Animal Biology. I have had to take extensive science and math courses. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with children. Especially those that are from low income families and different cultures. I have volunteered tutoring children after school. Additionally, I have taken several classes about learning styles, teaching styles, and study skills to improve my own academic achievement. I graduated the City University of New York-Brooklyn College campus in February 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Educat ion/K-6 grade teaching skills. I have also raised two daughters, one graduating from Fordham University magna cum laude and completing her Master's Degree in Social Work from Hunter College summa cum laude. My youngest child, recently graduated with honors from Boston College where she had a full scholarship for the entire 4 years. I love seeing people understand something once I explain it to them in a way that they can understand it. I also love working with kids and teenagers because I believe that if we have a positive influence on young people they will grow up to be the leaders that our nation needs. My teaching style is geared at making people think. Students don't learn when they are spoon fed their education but when they are lead in the correct direction.

Currently, I am a graduate student in the Counselor Education Department at the University of Florida. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish from the University of Florida in May 2007. While I was earning my Bachelors’ degree I was a tutor for Upward Bound. I tutored high-school students in numerous areas including math, foreign language, reading, and test preparation. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science from the University of Florida, I feel that I have gained a well rounded education in all areas including English, mathematics, biology and natural sciences.I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health because I love to learn. I have been working with children ages 3-14 since I was 15 years old. I spent my summers working as a summer camp counselor. In college I worked for an organization called America Reads and tutored approximately 10 elementary students in reading. As a student in the PhD program at the University of Florida, I have been very involved in academic pursuits. However, this personal endeavor reaches beyond my own experience as a student and extends into my professional work as an educator. I have been working in the field of Adult Education for students pursuing their GED diploma as well as Instructing courses in ESOL. I am a graduate of the University of West Florida with a degree in Elementary Education/ESOL. I am now a student at the University of Florida working towards my masters degree in Reading(K-12). I have my K-6 Florida Teaching Certification, CRP Pro, First Aid, and Lifeguard training.
