My comments on tutoring Drawing : As an artist, I am able to work with students on the technical skills and methods of drawing or their overall approach. I have taken many drawing classes and would be delighted to share what I have learned with others!

I am a big proponent of the theory of multiple intelligences and believe that each student has certain styles of learning that work best for them. I aim to help students figure out how they learn best. Once they realize where their strengths are, they can incorporate the concept into all of their studies, not just the subject for which I happen to be tutoring them.
I have tutored a wide variety students on many subjects. I am most experienced tutoring high school students for the SAT. I worked with Let's Get Ready, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing high school students for the SAT and their college search process. I believe all students can learn but some need explicit strategies to be shown to them. Research shows students who fail often have less background knowledge, remember less, their attention wanders and they lack automaticity, the ability to recall basic facts. I have a tool box full of research proven strategies that work. Discovery learning is not what kids in remediation need. I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of the time I do a lot of question/conversation responses to allow them to find the answer for themselves. I like a problem based learning style, even for the youngest of children.
