Chess is one of my top subjects! I have played chess for over a decade and a half, and have taught people of a variety of skill levels ranging from not knowing how to play to advanced strategies and thinking on your feet.

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated high school in 2003 as the valedictorian of my class. I maintained my high level of academics in college but didn't know what I wanted to do for a career. I graduated in 2007 with my business degree and moved to NC. I worked for a mental health agency helping children in broken homes with school work and being a positive male role model as well as taking pre reqs to return to school for my masters degree in physical therapy. I am currently in my 2nd year of PT school and have always helped others learn throughout my life.

Having spent 20 years in the Information Technology field, I recently made the decision to change careers to pursue a life-long dream of teaching. I began college as an education major, but due to life circumstances, changed direction and entered the IT field. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently teach GED math for Guilford Technical Community College. I have been teaching in the GED program for 8 years now. I also tutor adults for GTCC who are trying to upgrade their math skills to pass the NC CRC test. I taught pre-k for 3 years with Guilford Child Development. I have 2 kids of my own and I enjoy helping people!
I am now in Graduate School trying to achieve my masters in curriculum and instruction. The last couple of courses we have really focused on the 8 intelligences. This provides guidance to teaching every type of learner. I am by nature an encourager. I am optimistic every child can learn -- the trick is to spark an interest in the subject and communicate the material to them in an understandable way.
