It is my belief that every person learns differently. Students learn best by different methods and learn at different methods. I find that the best way to tech a student, especially in a one on one environment is to find how the individual best learns and use that, rather than trying to teach by any already formulated method.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Paine College student, I do some substitute teaching to have some experience with teaching students a variety of mathematics and other subjects. I will be getting my BS in Mathematics with emphasis of Computer Science. I am planning to get teacher certification in Georgia and start teaching mathematics.
I am very patient with a child when it comes to learning. Some children learn differently than other children. Sometimes I would take each problem one step at a time. If needed, I would spend more time with a child that needs more help with a problem.

As a teacher of three years, math is my life. I enjoy teaching math and have completed a math degree at Georgia College and State University. I am almost finished with my Masters in Secondary Mathematics. I am familiar with all levels of Mathematics from Algebra to the higher level math courses.

In 2005 I taught in the Richmond County School System for 2 years, and then taught in a group home until 2010. While working as a private tutor, I was able to work one-on-one with an emotionally troubled teen, which helped me to learn that everyone learns at different speeds and in different ways. I was able to implement several learning strategies, until we found one that was most conducive to his learning. During my peer tutoring time at Brevard College, I had the opportunity to work with a handful of special needs students, including a form of autism. I loved the work I did as a private tutor, because I feel like you can get to know the student. I was able to encourage the teen to persue his interest in the theatrical arts. A Little Bit About Me...

I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.
