A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring ever since elementary school. Since I was the only one that knew how to read, I had to assist in the others' learning of Phonetic sounds. I've also tutored fellow classmates in middle school, high school, and college. It is my belief that every person learns differently. Students learn best by different methods and learn at different methods. I find that the best way to tech a student, especially in a one on one environment is to find how the individual best learns and use that, rather than trying to teach by any already formulated method.

I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.
I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
