Elementary Special Education Teacher

I have been teaching students with many different special needs for the past 19 years. My experience ranges from students with severe developmental delays to students with emotional disabilities. My experience has mostly been with students who have learning disabilities. I also have son that has an IEP for learning disabilities and is thriving now in school. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade.
My teaching style is student centered. I try to figure out what work best for each student and go from there. If a student has a learning stye that is very hands on then I will try to make sure a portion of my lesson is tactile. It is not always easy but I strive to differentiate to meet all of my students' learning needs..

A Little Bit About Me...

My love for learning drives me to do all that I can to make learning fun and motivating for others. I employ Gardner's eight multiple intelligences into my teaching so that material is presented in various ways. This allows students with different learning styles to be reached and to gain knowledge during each lesson.
