A Little Bit About Me...

I like to break things down into baby steps. However, my teaching style will change according to how each student learns the easiest.
I am hoping to tutor students from k-8th grade because I know I have more than enough qualification to help them succeed. Plus, I have worked as a bible studies and piano teacher at my church with students in that range. I also have enough tutoring and academic experience to be able to tutor these students. For ~3 years I was a tutor for students learning English as a second language (for I speak English and Spanish) at Reedley College. My comments on tutoring Grammar : I have been an editor on many projects and have experience with several major writing style guides (including APA).

To use class material as a core of what is being taught, but also adding extra information when relevant to understanding the material, offering tips and advice, and a sharp eye for finding mistakes and the tact to offer constructive criticism to help overcome and prevent future mistakes.
Not only have I tutored my nieces and nephews throughout their K-12 and even into college, I have a background in copy editing, I have been in a few minor publications, I am a competent mathematician, and I have a deep fascination and interest in science. My education is in psychology, philosophy, and English Writing, and I have a broad understanding of social/political theories, biology, math and algebra, and earth science. I am also highly knowledgeable of many books that are commonly assigned for high school readings.

My comments on tutoring Grammar : I have been studying grammar since grade school.

I have been a tutor for over four years. I enjoy tutoring and teaching a variety of subjects to whoever wants to learn. Learning for the sake of learning is one of the most important things I have learned in college and that is how I apply myself to tutoring. School should not be about just memorization; it should be about learning for the sake of learning.

Then start from the very beginning of the lesson they're learning, reteaching as though there was never any difficulties at all.
