Not only have I tutored my nieces and nephews throughout their K-12 and even into college, I have a background in copy editing, I have been in a few minor publications, I am a competent mathematician, and I have a deep fascination and interest in science. My education is in psychology, philosophy, and English Writing, and I have a broad understanding of social/political theories, biology, math and algebra, and earth science. I like to break things down into baby steps. However, my teaching style will change according to how each student learns the easiest.
I am hoping to tutor students from k-8th grade because I know I have more than enough qualification to help them succeed. Plus, I have worked as a bible studies and piano teacher at my church with students in that range. I also have enough tutoring and academic experience to be able to tutor these students. For ~3 years I was a tutor for students learning English as a second language (for I speak English and Spanish) at Reedley College. I helped them with basic reading, writing, pronunciation, grammar, etc., much like what students within k-8th grade learn. My comments on tutoring English : English is the first language I learned.

I have been a tutor for over four years. I enjoy tutoring and teaching a variety of subjects to whoever wants to learn. Learning for the sake of learning is one of the most important things I have learned in college and that is how I apply myself to tutoring. School should not be about just memorization; it should be about learning for the sake of learning.
I tutor not for facts, but for concepts and how everything fits into the "big picture."
