Teaching children is a passion of mine. All children are different, therefore they learn in many ways. I believe it is essential to include various activities in the classroom that allow students to gain knowledge and information they need. I believe that integrating technology, music, dance, and physical activities help students learn. Using manipulatives and hands-on activities will allow students to not only learn the material, but discover that learning is fun! My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention. For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.

I really believe learning science is meant to be an experience, not just an exercise in memorization. I like to teach things with hands-on activities and field experiences. I feel like this helps the student internalize things more effectively and allows them to see that science truly can be FUN!
