Graduated cum laude from the University of West GA with a BS in biology. While there I was a member of TriBeta, a biological honors society, and lead biology workshops designed to help first and second year biology students get a better understanding of the fundamentals of biology. If students don't learn the way we teach, we must learn to teach the way they learn. I believe in Orton-Gillingham's philosophy of teaching everything using as many senses simultaneously as possible. Thus, I introduce and teach using manipulatives so lessons are hands-on and active. We move at a brisk pace and do not waste precious time! I love children and want what is best for them. They recognize this very early and work hard in return. It is especially rewarding to watch their confidence and self-esteem soar as they gain academic competence!
I have expertise in teaching reading and math from infancy to grade 8. I have successfully tutored college math and English. I have taught 6th, 1st, 4th and 2nd grade in SC and GA public schools. I graduated in May of 2010 with my BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in San Antonio. I have taken all math courses from College Algebra to Calculus 3. Engineering courses have furthered my knowledge and understanding in how the mathematics can be applied to real life. I have tutored college and high school students. I tutored college students in Calculus and College Physics.I tutored the high school students in trigonometry and Algebra.
I love to see children succeed. I am easy to get along with and happy to help you. I understand that not all students like math or understand it. My goal is to change my student’s outlook on mathematics by giving them a better base understanding of the subject. My favorite way to teach is through simple examples, especially an example already in the book that the student can reference to when I am not around. A good mathe ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I started substitute teaching when I was in undergraduate school just as a source of income and because I like teaching. My mother is a retired teacher who taught for over 30 years. I work as an engineer but I always find time to tutor. I have tutored with an SES program and have found that this worked really well. Focusing on how the children learn as a method to approach how they should be tutored is very effective and the children learn.
I have substitute taught for over 16 years and this past year I worked with the SES program tutoring. My areas of focus are sciences and maths but I have had to tutor reading. This year I tutored middle school students but I have tutored elementary as well. I tend to focus on the high level maths and sciences often taking long term positions in high school.

I believe that all students have the ability to learn but not in the same way and on the same day. It takes work, but a teacher needs to find what works best for each student to learn. It is essential to utilize the multiple intelligences as well as theories on how boys and girls learn differently. I work well with parents and students, breaking down barriers and working within the parameters that work best.
I have a extensive background with teaching and implementation in education. My most current position was the Executive Director of School Improvement and Sales. I have experience analyzing data, working with teams to improve student achievement using research based interventions. I have experience from Elementary to College level.

As a recent cum laude college graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry, I have an extensive background and understanding of math and chemistry. I have also gained extensive writing skills due to writing lab reports and research papers, in addition to essays written for general education classes. During the last three years, I have helped teach and tutor chemistry students both in a laboratory setting, as well as outside the laboratory.
As a babysitter, elementary school tutor, and hospital volunteer growing up, I have come to love working with children. I find the opportunity to help students learn and succeed in school to be very rewarding. I am very patient, laid back, and encouraging, and I firmly believe that with a little hard work, every student can achieve good grades in school.

As I approach my college graduation, I have realized how fortunate I am to have been given the opportunity to attend college. I understood the importance of understanding math in life early on and my Finance degree only validated that notion. Early this year, I began tutoring advanced math to middle school kids and found it to be a rejuvenating to see young minds eagerly waiting to be academically challenged.
During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.

I love being around and teaching kids. I am constantly around kids now. I am a single parent of a 10 year old dughter, and i am very into her school. First off i don't believe that a kid is dumb or doesn't know how to do anything. Children only know what we teach them. So if a child doesnt know how to do something it is a reflection on the teaching that he/she has had. I have never had a kids come to me and leave without learing more than they knew before they got to me. I believe in practice makes perfect, especially in math. To be great at math calls for repitition. The more you do the better you will get at it. I believe in real life examples, not in adult situations but something the child can relate to to help them better understand. I honestly feel that I am the best at helping students to understand math.

I really enjoy tutoring and being a part of a learner's path to success. I believe that small victories are worth celebrating and that each student has a different learning style and pace and therefore I’m very patient with students. I feel that it's very important to make the learning experience fun and rewarding in order to encourage the student to see that learning can be enjoyable and hopefully motivate the student to persevere in their educational endeavors. I believe that building a student’s confidence early in the learning experience can make the biggest difference.
I began my tutoring experience by tutoring high school algebra and geometry to fellow students during my senior year of high school. During my four years at LaGrange College I worked in the Tutoring Lab as a tutor for biology and humanities. After graduation, and before entering medical school, I worked as ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering within a span of 3 years. I spent the next year earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics degree from the same institution and I am currently a medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. My past tutoring experiences have included teaching high school and college students math, science and writing.
I approach tutoring from an adaptive stance, in that I believe each student learns best in his own, unique way. Some students prefer a more direct approach while others would prefer something resembling the socratic method. My ultimate goal is for the students to be comfortable and confident with the material. A good teacher always hopes for his students to exceed him.

A Little Bit About Me...

I had my first experience with tutoring in an intensive summer program at Georgia Tech before my freshman year when a good friend and upperclassman helped me navigate my way through Chemistry and college life. I had my first official tutoring role as a teaching assistant and mentor for an introductory course for incoming Chemistry and Biology majors. In addition, I had the opportunity to do chemistry demonstrations at Atlanta middle schools and science fairs. I graduated from Tech with a BS in Chemistry. Over the past four years, I have worked unofficially as the family tutor by tutoring my cousins and siblings in Biology, Physics, English, and Algebra and have amassed a variety of helpful tips and teaching resources.
My teaching style consists mostly of being patient. Not all students are quick to learn everything. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but it is important to ... read more

I attended the college of The Virgin Islands (presently University of the USVI) and graduated with a Bsc in Biology in 1986. While in college I became captivated with computers and programming. Since I already had a keen interest in electronics, I pursue job opportunities that were computer related after I graduated. As a result all my jobs were of a technical nature. My love for the Sciences has never diminished and I have kept up with Math and Science subjects to stay in tune. As a matter of fact I pass my GACE Biology I and II exams in 2007 even though I was fixing ATM for a living. If ask to, I am sure I can teach Algebra and trigonometry. I have a passion for computer programming and have learned a few languages over the years. My most recent computer language is C#.
I enjoy teaching very much. I have taught at The Savannah River College for approximately three years. I must ... read more
