My teaching style is hands on. I give hints and partial answers in an effort to encourage students to think through problems and attempt to solve them. If necessary, I separate an idea into simpler terms, and help students learn each term before continuing. I give examples which illustrate a point or demonstrate a procedure. At times, my students write short essays, which I critique for sentence structure, word choice, tense matching, and organization. When a student is reading aloud, I follow along, interjecting if necessary with the correct pronunciation or the proper syllable emphasis.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been driven to learn and pursue and education, this led me to completing my bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in history from UC- San Diego. I enjoyed tutoring math, science and english while in high school and continued in college. After graduating I volunteered in Chile teaching English which greatly improved my teaching skills and improved my Spanish Language abilities. I currently work as a substitute teacher which allows me to continue to gain teaching experience while I work towards a full credential

Beginning in 1998, I was hired by Cuesta College of San Luis Obispo as a part time instructor. In that capacity, I have taught a variety of subjects including Accounting, English as a second language, Spanish, Italian, Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Computer usage for Senior Citizens, and Personal Income Tax Preparation. For four years, I served as a Spanish instructor for the GATE program of the City of Atascadero.
