A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an executive on Wall Street, a Chief Financial Officer, a Comptroller. I have either started or been a key player in ten start-up ventures. I have taught a two credit course in personal finance, been a lecturer for economics courses at Richard Stockton State College, been a substitute on the high school level and have been a business instructor at the Harris Business School. I graduated with honors in finance and have 12 credits towards my MBA.
My style is to make learning fun. I take the boring and make it exciting and learnable without torturing the student. I weed out the things that are not important and focus on the important so that I do not waste the student’s time. I have a lot of silly and humorous little things that will stick in the student’s mind to help with retention.

I have lived in South Jersey all of my life. I received my degree in Accounting from Stockton and have spent most of my career in finance working my way up to Controller for several businesses. When I was laid off, I had always wanted to try teaching and I loved it. I love working with kids (I also coach baseball and football), I really get a kick out of passing my knowledge onto them and seeing their face when it sinks in.
Math to me is like a puzzle... if you can imagine the pieces in your mind, fitting them together in practice is so much easier. I am extremely patient and easy going, even in coaching, most kids gravitated to me because I could speak to them on their level. You have to explain it in a way that kids can understand. Positive feedback is very critical to let them know they are going down the right path.
