I think that for that reason I would be able to connect more with the students because I didnt sit in a classroom and have a teacher. I learned at a slower rate but I got to choose which fields in webdesign I wanted to focus on. In a college type setting your required to follow the same study path that all the other students are on. Which makes learning your favorite style much harder. I present the information or concepts at hand in several different ways. I draw on the learners personal experiences to make the information or concepts relevant to them. I help the learner tie the information or concepts to their own knowledge base thus establishing ownership. I tutored for the Federal Way, WA campus of DeVry University from spring of 2007 to fall of 2008. I tutored students in English, multiple maths, programming, game design, logic, and test prep. I stopped tutoring to devote my time to the final project of my degree. Now I'm an independent video game developer tutoring to make "ends meet" while I'm working on my first commercial game project.

I believe that whenever I'm working with a student they have the capacity to learn and internalize the material. I believe that the student can learn the material. My method of mathematical and scientific instruction is based off the Polya style of teaching where the instructor guides their students by questions and reviewing the known information. Thus the student's questions drive the student towards the answer desired. I find great personal reward when working with students. After explaining information and working on helping a student understand the material there's sometimes that moment when you can watch the student go from not knowing what's going on to sudden understanding.
