Experience Summary
I recently graduated from the Evergreen State College with a degree in mathematics. My other fields of study included chemistry, computer science, and physics. I have numerous hours of laboratory experience to support my in class and text book understanding of the materials covered. I've been a tutor at TESC for 3 years now working with students from all walks of life and working on any scientific material I've had any experience with.
Teaching Style
I believe that whenever I'm working with a student they have the capacity to learn and internalize the material. I believe that the student can learn the material. My method of mathematical and scientific instruction is based off the Polya style of teaching where the instructor guides their students by questions and reviewing the known information. Thus the student's questions drive the student towards the answer desired. I find great personal reward when working with students. After explaining information and working on helping a student understand the material there's sometimes that moment when you can watch the student go from not knowing what's going on to sudden understanding. Moments like that make my day.
