I have had extensive experience handling and managing children and adults in a learning environment. During my time at Lahser High School, I tutored students ages 7-15 in subjects such as elementary math, history, pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II and geometry. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked quite a lot with elementary school children, whether it be in or outside of work. I have done independent tutor work, mainly in the fields of Art and Language Arts. In the past I had a long-term job in which I was required to interact with young children, and I did so willingly. For two years in a row, I taught a Beginner's Guitar course for children and the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. I enjoy very much seeing things "click" with students, particularly young ones. It inspires me not only do teach well but also to always learn more myself.

A Little Bit About Me...

I use a variety of teaching styles while instructing students. Alternating between styles helps to keep minds engaged and participation at a maximum. When covering content I use many examples that relate to real life, that way students can relate it to something they have experienced or seen. I also like performing small-scale experiments and labs. I will use power point presentations as well as the overhead for drawings, notes, and discussion. Thomas Edison said, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I am extremely persistant. Whatever it takes to get someone to understand a concept I will strive to discover it. Most of all the process of learning should be kept exciting so that the pupil is left yearning for the next lesson.
I went to public schools in East Detroit, Michigan. In eighth grade I set a personal goal to attend the University of Michigan. I never had private tutors. My strongest subject is math. Mr Learmont, my junior high school history teacher would frequently say, "Take care of these books and these books will take care of you." It was that inspiration that raised me to love learning and in turn teaching others.
