15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have been tutoring for over 15 years both in students homes or at public locations such as coffee shops or the public library. My education and experience are broad. I was educated at "Ivy League" level schools and purposefully educated myself in a large variety of the humanities, which in essence all tie together. Basic courses up through most High School material outside of the Humanities are not difficult. Actually, while my education has been primarily in the Humanities, the material I see the most in tutoring is Algebra and Geometry!
I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. Since 1993, I have been tutoring primarily reading, reading comprehension, writing, and language arts to students ranging in age from preschoolers to candidates for a Master's degree and ranging in abilities from learning disabilities, ADD, ESOL, to gifted. In the area of elementary-school reading, for example, I start with phonics, break up and sound out new words,and seek out unfamiliar words from assigned reading. Furthermore, in the area of writing an organized paragraph in formal English, older students use multi-colored pens to add adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions to second drafts. I love working with children. I have a great deal of patience and know the importance of skill progression. As a current student at the University of Central Florida I am always learning and growing in the education field.
