For 20 years I worked for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, as a fifth through 7th Grade classroom teacher. I taught all of the academic subjects in various combinations, sometimes all at once to a self-contained class. The State of Tennessee recognized me as "Highly Qualified" in all subjects, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. I am currently completing my final year at Vanderbilt Law School. Over the past three years, I have taught a class and provided one-on-one tutoring for students preparing to take the LSAT. My comments on tutoring Grammar : I began teaching grammar in Composition courses while working on my Master's in English at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville many years ago using Harbrace Handbook. Since then, I have taught grammar within various English and leadership courses at Vanderbilt, Belmont, NSCC, and Price Waterhouse, and USACE primarily using Diane Hackers' books. Since Microsoft Word is only about 33 percent accurate, students need to learn correct (rather than spoken or "trendy," i.e., using "so" to begin an answer) grammar

I have thirty years of experience teaching and tutoring writing for high school, college, and adult learners.
