I have over 30 years of diverse accounting experience. Over this time I have been responsible for the timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns, bank reconciliations, and budgets. For the last 4 years I have been an Accredited Financial Examiner responsible for the financial examination of insurance companies for various state insurance departments. I understand that any child can run into problems with schoolwork. I try to find out why the child is having a problem before trying to help them. Did he miss something and fall behind? Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions. I feel it is important for the learner to understand that there is a reason for making the effort to learn each subject. In math, I like to assign the numbers and equations to subjects the learner likes, such as pizza, sports or music, for example. But a person has to believe they can do it first and I believe everyone can learn and should be given the opportunity I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification.
