A teacher never stops teaching, and never ceases learning.

I have to first find the learning style of the student. As a teacher, I find that students have diverse ways of learning and that I must adapt my teaching style to their needs. For instance, I have some students who are auditory learners and sometimes retain information more if information is read orally to them. Some students must have a generous amount of explanation as to the content of what he or she is reading while otheers require many visual cues to accompany their learning. It really depends upon the student.

My comments on tutoring Special Education : I am an EC TA in a self-contained AU classroom and I am still trying to work on my Masters in Special Education.

I have been working with Elementary children for over 10 years now. I have helped all ages with homework, sports, and life skills (current job now as EC TA). I also have been coaching for the past five years in cheerleading and soccer, but in different age groups. I have been in the school system for the past year in a half and have worked on phonics, math, science, and life and social skills with AU students.
I like to get on the child's level and teach that way. I like to ask the children what their best way is to learn and what are some of their favorite things are so I can incorporate them into the lesson.

Helping children work through learning issues is my passion.

I have 22 years experience teaching public education k-6. I began my career as a special education teacher and then moved into regular education classrooms. I now tutor children from the Zoom platform since I cannot see them in my office due to the pandemic. I have been doing private tutoring for 2 years.
When working from my office, I like to use hands on activities that keep children engaged. However, since working online I use many different websites and materials that allow children to be actively engaged. I use Orton Gilligham and Wilson reading programs as well as my own materials. Helping children with learning issues is something I am very passionate about. Building self confidence is key to growing and learning.

I have a Masters Degree in Teaching. I am currently an EC teacher. I am shocked at the number of students who do not have the basic skills in reading, writing, math, science and social studies but yet the school system continues to pass them to the next grade without these skills. During the past five years, I have worked as an EC resource teacher in both elementary and middle schools. I am licensed to teach K-12 EC.

As a Mass Communications graduate, I focused primarily on writing radio scripts and commercials. I had a goal to inspire the youth via the media. After several internships in the field, I realized that I could serve the youth better in the classroom. I started my career as a substitute teacher. After substituting on all levels, I then took on an EC Teacher's Assistant position at an elementary school. This position has given me the experience to understand weaknesses that our youth have. I then took on an English position at a high school. With this position, I have been able to perfect my writing skills, as well as tutor my students.
My passion is working with youth. My goal is to inspire. As an English teacher, I understand that it is important to teach so that all students can understand the lesson. I teach to reach diverse learners. I have the proper training to diffe ... read more

I began tutoring others in different academic subjects while at Forest Hills High School. During my time at Dartmouth College I assisted others--primarily with writing assistance. Majoring in Education & African-American Studies, I endeavored to help others take pride in learning. I helped implement the Academic Peer Advisory Council on campus. Upon graduating from Dartmouth I worked as a Substitute Teacher and After School Program Coordinator. These positions enabled me to provide both instruction and enrichment to students. I have since helped my own children and their peers—especially with basic math, reading, and writing.
My teaching style embraces a strength based approach. I start with what my students already know and build from there. I find that positive reinforcement of previously acquired skills encourages further learning. I also use creative everyday examples to help ... read more
