Spanish is one of my top subjects! I lived in Santiago, Chile for 38 years teaching in a school for English speaking children. I am bilingual speaking both English and Spanish. I have been tutoring in Spanish for the past 2 years here in Ocala.

As I graduated from college with my California State Teaching Credential,I was able to teach 2nd grade for the Los Angeles City School District for three years. My way of teaching can vary depending on the student because not all students learn the same. Some students can be completely clueless about a certain area or problem, while others may know a little more but get lost at a certain point. What I tend to do is to carefully go over the book instructions, chapter section, notes etc.. because I know that sometimes part the reason why they don't understand is because he/she did not read the instructions or did but still did not understand them. Afterwards I will let he/she start a problem and if he/she still has trouble, I will then explain very carefully and then I will ask if he/she understood; if not i will explain again if yes, then I will give him/her a different example very similar and won't let him see the notes to see if he really did in fact understood. I started preparing to teach when I came to the United States right after high school from a country with a language other than English by learning English; I then had the opportunity to attend college for a short while and then teach my own children -they were home-taught up to tenth grade. I worked as a teacher assistant for about six months and as a substitute teacher for about ten years. I work as a math remediation teacher for Maplewood Elementary and I worked as a tutor from September 2009 to June 2010 for children in the subjects of math and reading.
