I am a hard worker and expect a similar attitude from the students I tutor. I tend to work out the problem for the student on one problem and then I watch as they go through a similar one to ensure they have understood. This repetative practice has proven efficient. I also tend to make the student practice more than the required assignments needed to be accomplished to ensure a firm grasp of the material.

In my experience I have found that it is always better to not only provide the didactic, but with it there must also be an ability for the student to relate personally. As it relates to methods of instruction, I have always utilized the three step method of: 1) See one, 2) Do one, and 3) Teach one. This is also akin to crawl, walk, and run method.
