I graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with a degree in Business and have spent six years as an actuary working in a professional and math-oriented field for major firms (Blue Shield and Mercer). I have a strong background in math dating back to high school where I scored an 800 on the SAT math section as a junior. I also bring experience working with youth. I love helping students. With my strong, positive feelings towards higher education, I believe every student should take pride in their studies and enjoy the material; and educational material can only be enjoyed if it is understood! I honestly believe that students need to put in the effort to learn themselves. If there isn't a basis of knowledge to go on (whether understood or not), the student would not benefit from tutoring. A tutor's job is not to TEACH the student, it is to help the student understand the material that has been taught and/or read. I refuse to "do the homework" for the student, because I have learned from experience (mostly personal) that this method does not help a student understand.
