Early Childhood Education Major Experienced in Tutoring

I have experience in tutoring and small group instruction in elementary regular ed, inclusion, and special education classrooms (including speech). Throughout my undergraduate, I have had many hours of field in experience in 2nd grade regular ed and inclusion classrooms and elementary special ed and inclusion, including speech. My teaching style depends on the student, but I like to use demonstrations, work through a problem instead of giving a problem, and I use visual learning methods (pictures and examples)
I graduated high school in 2013 and became a student at Adams State University in the fall of 2013. I then moved to Georgia and I am currently working through my application process to Columbus State University. I did a lot of volunteer work during high school and was involved in many things, ranging from two years in ROTC to becoming a Student Ambassador for the "People to People" program. I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.
My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom.
All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. As a substitute teacher I never really was able to develop a specific style of teaching. Each teacher had their own way of doing things and each class was different. However, I feel the best way for anyone to learn be it adult or student is to let the student take the lead. I would give them the instructions as to what needs to be accomplished, let them do the work, and be there for any questions or assistance that would be needed.
I earned a bachelors in management in 1994 after earning 2 Associate Degrees; one in Paralegal Studies and the other in Legal Secretarial Studies.
