In college I held a double major in English/French. I am an American by birth, but my formative years were spent in the French-speaking cultures of Haiti and Martinique. I have many years experience mentoring and teaching children from pre-K to middle shool. I have worked as a substitute teacher, kindergarten leader, Bible class leader, club director and instructor and librarian.
Children are a great source of knowledge and very bright. I prefer to present a subject of study, encourage original thought, and refrain as much as possible from talking at them. I enjoy watching young imaginations expand. I believe a greater understading comes with a hands-on aproach. Teaching should be fun and creative, and adaptive to each personality.

I try to inspire the students In terms of style, I explain the basic concept being taught and then illustrate by way of examples. I combine a bit of lecturing with meaningful interaction. Next, it is the students term to practice what has been taught. I may use a variety of interactive learning games in order to re-enforce the concept being taught. After earning my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1990 from the California State University at Stanislaus, I entered the credential program. In the credential program at C.S.U. Stanislaus, I became well prepared for all the nuances besides teaching that goes with being a teacher. I was introduced to the concept of classroom management, assertive discipline, and establishing a warm and friendly learning environment in the classroom. I learned and developed a repertoire of hands-on manipulatives, games, and puzzles to make the learning of math more exciting, fun, and easy.
