I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program. One working with 2nd grade students and the other with 5th grade students. I have also taken many courses to understand context and teaching strategies in all subject areas.

My teaching style is a mixture of direct instruction and discovery based learning whose components depend on the student(s) at hand. I've been known to make generalized lesson plans and improvise as I go, because every class is different, and too strict of a plan is destructive and boring for the students. Students typically need things explained to them in many different ways to garner a solid understanding of any topic, but especially upper level math and physics. I am a passionate teacher and tutor. I believe that there is not a minute to waste when working with youth, and I like to conduct vigorous tutorials and well-paced classes.
