Since graduating from my undergraduate program in 2007, I have had a passion for teaching and learning. My first teaching experience was working in Camden, New Jersey. I served as an intern art teacher for at-risk first through third graders in an after school/summer school program. Shortly thereafter I started my Master's program, where I integrated my passion for teaching into my capstone project. I was given the opportunity to teach at-risk fifth through eighth graders basic life and business skills, which included everything from how to calculate simple interest to how to apply for college. Around the same time, my goddaughter, now eleven, was diagnosed with learning disabilities. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel teaching is a calling. I believe all children have gifts, but we teachers must learn how to reach them. I believe in the Multiple Intelligence theory that if students and teachers know best how a student learns, this will help him or her become more successful. I do not use a textbook when teaching. I believe students learn best by creating lessons that make the learning come alive and realistic. I believe that all students can learn if they are willing to put a little elbow grease into the process.
I have been a public school teacher for eighteen years. I have taught in both Arkansas and Texas. I have taught English, Gifted and Talented English classes, Gifted and Talented seminar classes.
