A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been an honors student and am currently taking the highest levels of math (AP Calculus) and spanish (Spanish 5) at my high school. I am involved in Peer Mentors at my school and have tutored multiple students in a variety of subjects. I have also tutored students outside of school, mostly in math. I love teaching others and helping them to understand concepts that they previously were struggling with. I am very patient and will work my hardest to make sure those I tutor succeed in school.
I generally teach through visual aids and through very thorough explanations. Turning your weakness into your strength

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. A Little Bit About Me...

In public school, the key to teaching success is the ability to motivate students to try their best by learning as much about each individual student as possible and keeping their attention. One of my classroom rules for students is to participate in everything we do. I keep my students engaged for the full ninety minutes through varied activities and try to change activities every twenty minutes. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a good ability in math and sciences. I obtained a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester, with a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. I tutored college students in Psychology and Chemistry during my time there. I have also worked with all ages of children while working as a ski-instructor.
My teaching style ultimately depends of the student. I work much better with an individual or small group than with a class because I can find the angle that works best for each student. For younger children, I like to make learning into different games to keep their attention. For older students, I think it is important to establish some level of confidence early on within a subject so that they do not get too discouraged while new material is presented.
