Working as a Spanish Interpreter, I work with pre-school aged children. I work with them during their therapy time, especially in Speech Therapy. I enjoy being able to help these young students overcome many obstacles that they are facing. I am very patient with them and considerate of their different needs. Currently I am a legislative analyst for the state of Arkansas and work daily with legislators to pass legislation. I consider myself a facilitator, not an authoritarian. I ascribe to the principles set forth by Malcolm Knowels and Benjamin Bloom. I rely on the strength and motivation of the student. I hesitate to call myself "teacher." I think I serve better as a guide which, hopefully, leads his client not just to a more enlightend place, but also to the place the client wants to be, or had in mind in the first place. I have always expressed an interest in the education field since graduating high school. I earned my AA as well as my BA while serving on active duty in the Army. I was in the military for 8 years and recently seperated to persue a civilian career in order to be closer to my family. While I was in the military I found myself in leadership positions as well as instructor positions throughout varies activities in my career. I am currently in the process of receiving my Masters in Education with a Curriculum Development degree.
