I finished high school with the highest math class possible (calculus). I have been tutoring students since I was sixteen and still tutoring. My range of tutoring so far has been pre-algebra, algebra one, geometry, algebra two, and chemistry. I have yet to have a student I tutored fail a class. Learning goes much deeper than memorizing then eventually forgetting. Learning comes from conceptual understanding of material, building one concept on top of another. I believe that every student has the capacity to learn anything, given they have the basic fundamentals. I prefer to teach using a Socratic method approach, (a means of learning in which the student figures out concepts on their own, with the simple aid of questions). If I do notice a student does not understand a concept in the way I am describing, I try to provide a different means to convey the message. I use various teaching styles that coincide with different learning styles, i.e. tactile, auditory, and visual learning styles, and can use each effectively.

I enjoy seeing children discover the world around them in their own ways. Therefore, I teach the importance of working things out until you understand it for yourself. Children will meet and often surpass any goal that is given to them if you show that you believe in them. I use a hands-on approach, as much as possible, with a problem-solving emphasis. I firmly believe that a child remembers things more if he is able to work it out for himself. As a result, I take more of a mentoring position the older the child is. I have been tutoring math and sciences since I have been a senior in college. Most recently I have worked tutoring math and science as a personal tutor in the LA area. I have also taught Biology and Earth sciences at East High School in Salt Lake City, UT for a year, and 2 years at New Community Jewish High School in West Hills, CA teaching anatomy and physiology and Chemistry.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned 2 degrees, B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and an MBA with a concentration in Finance. These degrees have enabled me to have much improved skills in paper writing and math. I have done extremely well in English, Philosophy, and Business writing. In 2008, I became a substitute teacher and it was a great experience working with children of all grades and subjects. Arabic is my native language. I took Arabic classes from K-12 and completed mandatory Arabic examinations by the government of education, which I then earned a certificate of excellence.
