I first explain the fundamentals or theory, then do an example, then work through an example with the student, and finally allow the student to complete a problem on their own. I really love teaching and finding different ways of using analogies and similarities to explain difficult concepts. I have been very successful in teaching the sciences and mathematics courses in an understandable way.
