Need help with Biology? I can make learning fun!!

I have taught an array of Biology courses at College level for over 10 years. During my time as a Graduate student at Louisiana State University, I have taught college freshman and have tutored high school students. After receiving my PhD, I taught Biology at Rogers State University. I am very comfortable teaching a wide array of Biology courses. Currently employed a University of Tampa as an assistant professor of Biology.
I have always used student-oriented teaching methods. For example I usually give the students real -life scenarios such as case studies to reinforce the concepts they learn. I also give the students worksheets and practice material. I have always received good feed back from students regarding my enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my education, I have excelled in every subject, particularly science and math. During college, I frequently studied in groups and assisted many classmates who were struggling. Some even began coming to me with questions instead of going to the professor because my explanations were more easily understood. For two years during college, I served as a tutor for the Athletics Department. While I more often tutored chemistry, I also tutored biology and math. During graduate school, I was selected as a Teaching Assistant for a Chemical Oceanography class. There are so many different teaching styles and learning styles. As a tutor the teaching style is going to be dependent on the student's learning style. Not everyone can teach. As a Dean, I had to interview many potential instructors. I believe that a teacher needs to be caring, compassionate and encourage students at all times. I spent ten years as a meteorologist and oceanographer, with tours of duty in the US and abroad. Several of the tours were spent doing meteorology and tropical weather forecasting, mainly in the Pacific. After Desert Shield/Desert Storm, I left the Navy and joined the National Weather Service. For the sciences, I have found that hands-on training is basically the most effective way for a student to understand these subjects. When expanded, this means presenting students with the bigger picture and relating topics to subjects of understanding, which is applicable in any field. As a teacher I remain patient and adaptive to the student's needs. For language, its practice and engaging exercises which get students to not only answer questions, but also begin to think in their new language.
