Experienced, question-based biology tutor

I find a discussion format with questions to be the most effective, as it not only allows student participation, but also provides information on where students are confused.
I received my M.S. in Biology from Eastern Michigan University in 2014. I taught introductory biology courses there for two years, with subjects ranging from population ecology to genetics. I enjoy teaching students who have some motivation to learn, and care about their subject matter. I like to make learning fun, because I feel so many kids today take courses to build a resume, rather than because they want to take them. I also feel like there is great deal that can be learned from the student as well. I always try and connect their interests to the material, so it is more than just words and starts to be interesting. Chemistry is scary to many people, because they try to memorize, it’s too intricate remember everything. I teach the student to understand why and how substances react or behave. Knowledge of basics, allows the student to solve problems as they are given instead of memorizing specific answers.
