My comments on tutoring Statistics : Especially experienced explaining basic statistical concepts to students who typically struggle with math.

During undergraduate, I tutored several of my classmates in different chemistry and math courses. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of being a teaching assistant for 2 years for undergraduate statistics. As a TA, I was responsible for summarizing new material, reviewing the concepts, and going over the homework for groups of 20 to 30 students. I've also had a good amount of experience working with smaller groups of students or 1-on-1 with students who came to my office hours.
Patient and encouraging. I usually like to summarize the material and give a bit of context and work through an example. Studied Applied Mathematics, Economics, and some Statistics at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I was a tutor for two students at Finger Lakes Community College for Pre-Calculus. The educators in VN were very tough. Call it tough love. While I learned a great deal, I always felt "abused" by the teachers (nuns). Many times during the school week, I came home with red markings on my face or hands. I take a softer approach. If you get a child excited, he/she will learn best!
