My comments on tutoring Writing: I have taught taught writing for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. I help prepare fourth grade students for the Nebraska State Accountability Writing assessment. As a part of this I taught an intervention writing group to go through the process of writing. I teach organization, sentence structure, voice, mechanics, grammar, etc. I am able to teach students the writing process of creating a well organized piece that contains a beginning, middle, and end. I have found that using a graphic organizer (or four square writing) is a useful strategy to implement when teaching struggling writers.

I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners.
