A Little Bit About Me...

Being a recent graduate of a university I am able to relate to students and understand the academic setting. I enjoy teaching and am motivated to help students achieve results in the form of grades and understanding. I think each student has their own learning style and finding that is important to the teaching process.
As a recent graduate of a high ranking tech school with my BS in Business Administration and Materials Engineering I am very familiar with the academic setting and learning styles of various students. I like to take the dry facts and rules of a subject and engage the students -- primarily through Harkness Mehtod discourse -- on the relevance of the subject and text to contemporary life, whether to absorb material or simply for the learning experience of deconstruction. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved with education for seven years now. I started by working as a paraprofessional in the special education program at Oyster River High School. This job was essentially daily tutoring of students within the school setting. In addition to this valuable experience I recently recieved my Masters Degree in Secondary English Teaching from the University of New Hampshire (in fact, Graduation was two days ago). A Little Bit About Me...

This past September I became a tutor in the Special Needs Department at Masconomet Regional Junior High School. I chose this department and school because I was once a student in the program. Currently, I work with 12 specific students that all have severe add and adhd. Each day we create activities that focus on their weaknesses in math and English. In addition to these two subject areas, I also attend their normally scheduled classes (Science and World Cultures). This way whenever they struggle, they know they can always count on me to assist them with their weakness.
