I believe in the Democratic approach to Educating the young. I start the year by asking the students what they would like to learn that year and we record this on a large sheet of paper. Students feel happy to know their wishes are so considered and then at the end of the year we review the list and they see that they have covered everything they wanted to learn and much more. I am seriously concerned with the self-esteem of each children and work to elevate this so that the children will be able to grow and achieve the most that they can while in my class. I have been an elementary teacher for over 21 years in Wisconsin, Ohio, Arizona, and recently in Reno, Nevada. When I was working as a secretary I knew I wanted to further my education. I returned to school and completed my bachelor of science in education. As a classroom teacher I realized the many problems my students had to deal with. This prompted my to complete my master in school counseling. I have attended several workshops throughout my career to enchance my teaching and counseling methods with Reading, Writing and Grammar for students of any age. I love working with students. As a teacher I enjoy the learning process and love watching the students discover new concepts and ideas. I then taught in a pull-out RSP program in 4th and 5th grade ,1/2 time and a high school push-out RSP program the rest of the day. I have also taught 3rd grade. I love helping people achieve their dreams and goals and I have high expectations for all children and adults I am teaching. I am a very understanding and considerate person and my teaching style reflects that. I have been counseling a week-long church camp in southern California for the past 5 years now and I absolutely love doing it. The ages are 9-12 and I look forward to it every year.
