I graduated from Vanderbilt in 2004 with a major in philosophy and a minor in geology. My overall GPA was 3.674/4.000. I enjoy using both sides of my brain, so to speak. Through philosophy, I mastered formalities of the English language and developed an aptitude for critical and logical thinking. A great benefit to teaching so many Biology labs was working with the professors to accomadate their lecture material and create a hands-on application for my students. I found this a wonderful opportunity to take a lot of information and to synthesize it in such a fashion that students could understand a complex process in a simple way. For example, visual demostrations were a favorite of mine, where you could see the light of 'understanding' in my student's eyes. In addition, I'm always very clear on what are the expectations for exams and pop quizzes, so that studying can be more focused.
