My comments on tutoring Algebra : I currently teach Algebra 1 at a high school in Johns Creek.

Math is a passion of mine that I would like to share with each of you. After attending the University of Georgia and majoring in Mathematics Education, I became a high school math teacher at Northview HS in Johns Creek, GA. During college, I tutored fellow peers in the college level math classes, including calculus, pre-calculus, and linear algebra. Throughout the school year (at Northview), I had experience tutoring an 8th grade student to prepare for the SSAT (entry test for private high schools). I have taken almost any math class through high school and college that you can think of, so I am pleased to help with everything I can! Currently, I am teaching Coordinate Algebra and Advanced Algebra, but I am certified to teach any mathematics 6th-12th grade. Knowing that this subject does not come easily to everyone, I use my passion to find a way to break down a subject to meet the n ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra : As one of the most important areas of Mathematics that can be utilized in various other branches of Mathematics and real life applications like Optimization, Econometrics and so on, Algebra needs a very good foundation. Algebra 1 teaches students various concepts, tools and techniques to understand basic linear equations and inequalities, word problems and hence apply them later in more advanced courses. It is crucial that a student knows how to work with fractions; both constants and variables, indices, linear equations, quadratics, polynomials, rational expressions and radical expressions as well as basic probability and data analysis. These topics will prepare student for further advancement and understanding.

I involve students a lot during the learning period. I consistently ask them questions about the topic and let them think for a while. I give them as much information as possible so that they do not miss any information while solving problems. I make students write. That is how they learn. I consistently give students concepts and them demonstrate with sample questions.
Holding a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics, I have knowledge of both Mathematics and its application to Economics as well as other real world situations. I have advanced experience on tutoring high school students and college students in courses like PreCalculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Combinatorics and Probability, Econometrics, Calculus I, Calculus II and Calculus III and MicroEconomics and MacroEconomics as well as International Economics. I have also worked as a teaching assis ... read more

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class.
